How do I determine minimum bid amounts and minimum bid increments for my auction items?

Determining minimum bid amounts and minimum bid increments requires a little bit of planning. You'll want to:
  1. Figure out the total income you'd like to generate from your auction or specific auction items.
  2. Check that the sum total of minimum bids for your auction items is equal to the minimum amount you are willing to accept for your fundraising cause or business goal.
  3. Keep in mind that you may not receive bids for all items, but you almost certainly will receive bids above the minimum amount for others.
  4. Assign minimum bid increments as simple multiples of the minimum bid amount. If your minimum bid amount is $200, then selecting a minimum bid increment of $10, $20 or $25, for instance, would make sense [10x20; 20x10; 25x8]. You cannot choose a minimum bid increment that is not also a multiple of the minimum bid amount.
